With the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League being just days away, the IPL board is set to schedule a meeting with captains of all franchises on March 30. Addressing this news, one has savagely trolled the Kolkata Knight Riders team as they still haven’t named a captain for the 2023 season.

The original KKR captain Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out of the tournament based on multiple reports as he is dealing with a back injury. Addressing this, a fan on Twitter with the username @adityagursahani posted a question asking that KKR will skip this meeting. The tweet said, “KKR will skip this meeting.”

Addressing the Kolkata captaincy conundrum, a report by TOI has surfaced that enlists Shardul Thakur and Sunil Narine as favourites to replace injured Iyer for the season. The report further adds that the team will announce their captain via an event featuring their owner Shah Rukh Khan.

The source quoted in the report said, "Within a day or two, KKR are set to make the announcement of their new captain in a grand function, with their owner, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and an overseas pop star set to light up the occasion."

Talking about the captaincy record of the two candidates, Shardul Thakur hasn’t had a chance to lead any side on the domestic or IPL circuit so far and hence this will be his first leadership assignment. Whereas, Narine previously led Abu Dhabi Knight Riders (KKR’s sister team) in the inaugural season of the ILT20 in the UAE.

Under Narine, Knight Riders finished at the bottom of the table with a single win and eight defeats. Whereas Rana has been the captain of the Delhi team in 12 T20s during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Under Rana’s captaincy, Delhi had a decent record of eight wins and four defeats.
