Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic, who was struggling physically during his third round match at the Australian Open, still dominated his way to a straight sets win with a scoreline of 6-1, 6-4, 6-4 against Thomas Machac from Czechia. In the post-match interview, Novak Djokovic had an hilarious interaction with an apparent drunk fan, who didn’t want the former world number one player to leave the Rod Laver Arena late at night, wherein he handled the situation in a creative manner.

Notably, Novak Djokovic needed just two hours and 22 minutes to get the better of Thomas Machac at the Rod Laver Arena, stating that he played quite well, feeling very happy with his game. The 37-year-old also referred to how he was struggling physically after breaking his opponent’s serve early in the second set, trying to catch his breath since he isn’t young anymore.

In the latter part of his post-match interview, a fan in the grandstand at the Rod Laver Arena, who was apparently drunk, kept on screaming at Novak Djokovic about not leaving. It led to a creatively hilarious response from the Serbian tennis star, who remarked, “Sorry mate, I have a wife. We can have a drink though. Maybe you’ve had a few already?”

Djokovic also went on to reveal that he recognised the heckler, who was distracting him during his match against Machac, and said, “Him and I were going back and forth for quite a while actually.., Should we set up a date?” He further said, “Listen, I’m happy to have a drink with him now that the match is over, we can reflect nicely on what we’ve said to each other during the match... What were we talking about?”

In the fourth round at the Australian Open, Novak Djokovic will play against another Czechia opponent in Jiri Lehecka.
