In the eighth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the batting lineup of Sunrisers Hyderabad put together a brutal piece of hitting against the Mumbai Indians bowlers, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The star of the show for SRH were the left-handed duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, setting the X platform ablaze.
After winning the toss, the captain of Mumbai Indians, Hardik Pandya, chose to field first, but after Tim David dropped Travis Head in the early stages of the contest, the Sunrisers Hyderabad batters took control of the contest. The Australian left-handed opener smashed the debutant Kwena Maphaka to start off the carnage, and he took on all comers before completing the fastest fifty in 18 balls in the history of the IPL for SRH.
When Gerald Coetzee got the wicket of Travis Head, who smashed 62 off 24 with nine fours and three sixes, Abhishek Sharma took over the mantle of continuing the work from his SRH teammate. He went on to break the fastest fifty record of SRH, set a few short minutes ago by his teammate, smashing it in just 16 balls.
Abhishek Sharma finished his innings on 63 off 23 with three fours and seven sixes, following which the South African duo of Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen took charge of hitting the MI bowlers into oblivion.
