Sunrisers Hyderabad head coach Daniel Vettori shared a major update on the fitness of Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who hasn't featured in IPL 2024 yet. The Hyderabad-based franchise has had a decent start to its 2024 campaign with one win and two losses. In these three games, Sunrisers have exceeded expectations with the bat but struggled with the ball.

Hyderabad could hope to solve this problem with Hasaranga but there has been uncertainty about the leg-spinner's participation who is sidelined by an ankle injury. Speaking about Hasaranga's fitness, Vettori expressed that the team is hopeful that the Sri Lankan will join the team soon.

He is definitely there in our planning: Daniel Vettori on Umran Malik

Vettori also spoke about how Indian fast bowler Umran Malik will be getting his chance to play as the tournament progresses. The former New Zealand captain said, “I have observed him in the training and have been impressed with everything he has done so far. Like I said he is definitely there in our planning and we do feel with Pat Cummins and Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar), Natarajan when he is fit and it’s a good pace bowling group.

"We would like to be condition-based and the number of surfaces so far has been conducive to the pace of slow-ball cutters. Umran’s strength is bowling fast and whenever there is an opportunity we will take him,” the coach said.
