In the 65th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Friday, May 23 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, SRH secured a comprehensive 42-run win to deny top two finish for the Bengaluru-based franchise. After being put to bat first, SRH posted 231 runs at the loss of six wickets, courtesy an unbeaten 94 from Ishan Kishan.
Apart from the young wicketkeeper-batter, Abhishek Sharma played a 34-run knock off 17 deliveries, along with quickfire innings Heinrich Klaasen (24 off 13) and Aniket Verma (26 off 9). After posting a competitive score of 231 on the board, the SRH bowlers kept RCB in the game with their disciplined bowling efforts.
After 80-run stand for the first wicket, SRH bowlers dismissed Virat Kohli soon after the powerplay overs. Phil Salt also couldn’t stay long as brilliant bowl from Pat Cummins, cut short Salt’s stay. Thereafter, none of the RCB batters could get into the game and fell like pack of cards. Eyeing a win to consolidate their position in the top two, RCB eventually slipped to the third place with SRH playing a spoilsport to their party.

With still a match to go for both sides, RCB will hope to get a win by comprehensive margin to secure their place in the top two before the playoffs. SRH on the other hand, will once again take the field, playing for their pride before they put curtains to their 2025 edition.
