With a comfortable win over the 11th seed, the American will next take on Australian tennis player James McCabe in Round of 64 on Wednesday, January 15. Whereas, the defeat for Stefanos Tsitsipas just mounts on his mediocre 2024 season which saw him drop his career rankings to 12.

On the other hand, the 20-year-old Alex Michelsen opened up after his win over the seeded international as he said, “I just tried to stay super composed out there today, I knew it was going to be a battle to the end." Alex, who scored his first win over a top-20 player at a Grand Slam continued, “My serve sort of let me down a bit in the fourth set, but super happy to get through it. It’s all about the mindset. I came in with the proper mindset and I executed the game plan."
