Former Indian and CSK skipper MS Dhoni turned the clock once again 20 years back following his sensational onslaught against the exhilarating Delhi Capitals on Sunday night. The 42-year-old recounted memories at his favorite hunting ground Vizag as he clobbered a remarkable unbeaten 37 in just 16 balls, which also earned him his maiden electric Player of the Match award this season.
However, it was MS Dhoni’s continuing leg injury that caught the attention of media and fans as the three-time ICC-winning captain was seen giving his mind to the youngsters after the game with a heavily strapped ice pack around his left leg. It was evident from this that he has not recovered fully from the left knee operation he underwent last year after playing the entire 2023 IPL battling with a knee injury.
In a viral picture on social media after Delhi Capitals' victory over Chennai Super Kings, MS Dhoni was spotted with an ice pack on his left leg as he continued facing his knee issue since last season.
MS Dhoni’s late fireworks in vain as DC clinched thriller by 20 runs
Despite MS Dhoni’s monumental onslaught at the end, Chennai Super Kings remained short of the DC’s score as the Pant-led side registered their first win of the season with a 20-run win. Coming into bat for the first time in this IPL, Dhoni revived the clock back to his early days as he smashed 37, which consisted of four boundaries and three hits over the fence.
Vizag has been his favorite hunting ground over the years as it was at this turf only, that he registered his first ever International ODI ton against Pakistan in 2005.
