When Pat Cummins was asked about whether Sunrisers Hyderabad will win the IPL 2024 title, he confidently responded by saying, “Absolutely, yes. Lock it in.” The Australian, who is captaining SRH for the first time this IPL season, has been at the forefront regarding the rise of the franchise after a poor campaign in 2023.
For the unversed, Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently in fifth place on the IPL standings after winning five of their first nine matches in the 2024 season. The Pat Cummins-led side is one of the most feared batting lineups in the IPL right now, having put up two of the highest totals in the history of the tournament, with the highest being 287/3 coming against RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
During his exclusive interview with the New Indian Express, Pat Cummins was quite confident about the chances of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 when asked about it.
The whole franchise has been amazing: Pat Cummins on playing for SRH
The 30-year-old spoke about his experience of captaining Sunrisers Hyderabad in his first IPL season, and said, “It’s been great. My first year with Hyderabad, lots of new guys I hadn’t met before this season who have been great fun. They’ve been playing awesome cricket off the field, the whole franchise has been amazing and the fans of the city have been great too.”
Pat Cummins also addressed the last couple of losses in the run chases for SRH in IPL 2024, and remarked, “Not much went right the last couple of games. The good thing is only two games before that we won four games in a row and we’re playing really good cricket. So, it’s the same guys. Just that the game hasn’t gone well the last two matches. It’s how we bounce back. We don’t need to change too much at all. We’re back in a venue that we know really well.”
Moreover, Sunrisers Hyderabad are set to play against the table toppers Rajasthan Royals in a highly anticipated IPL 2024 clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
