South Africa Champions defeated Pakistan Champions at Edgbaston, Birmingham on August 2 to win the World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025 title. AB de Villiers shone with a knock of 120*(60) runs as SA Champions won by nine wickets to emerge champions in the second edition of the tournament. After their title win, South Africa Champions have been getting praise from the fans and several popular in the cricketing fraternity.Suresh Raina, who was a part of India Champions squad in the WCL 2025 also shared a post a X praising South Africa for their win.

In his post, Raina also took a dig at Pakistan Champions team and opened up India Champions refusing to play semi-final with them. Notably, after their win in the last league match against West Indies Champions, India Champions qualified for the semi-final were scheduled to play the knockout clash against arch-rivals Pakistan Champions. However, all the players from the Indian team refused to play against Pakistan due to tensions between both the nations after the Pahalgam attack followed by Operation Sindoor. Due to this, Pakistan Champions automatically qualified for the final after India Champion backed out from the semi-final.

After South Africa Champions won the WCL 2025 title on Saturday, Suresh Raina shared a post on X heaping praise on the Proteas team and also acknowledged AB de Villiers for his match-winning ton. Apart from that, Raina also took an indirect dig at Pakistan Champions team and mentioned that the India Champions chose nation first before anything else.

“What a knock by @ABdeVilliers17 in the final, absolutely smashed it. Had we played, we would’ve crushed them too, but we chose our nation above everything else," Raina wrote on X. Before the semi-final, the league match of WCL 2025 between India Champions and Pakistan Champions was also cancelled after Indian players refused to play against arch-rivals.
