Team India T20 International (T20I) captain Suryakumar Yadav underwent a surgery for a sports hernia in Munich, Germany. The previous week, some media reports claimed that Yadav left for Europe to get rid of his injury and will also go under the knife if necessary. In January 2024, he was diagnosed with the injury but he delayed to get the cure to fulfill his duties for Team India against England in the five-match T20I series at home and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. In IPL 2025, he looked magnificent with his bat and ended up as the second-leading run-getter with 717 runs in 16 matches.

Taking to Instagram, Suryakumar shared his pictures related to the surgery. He wrote, “Life Update : Underwent surgery for a sports hernia in the lower right abdomen. Grateful to share that after a smooth surgery, I’m already on the road to recovery. Can’t wait to be back.”

Suryakumar Yadav doubtful for upcoming Bangladesh tour

Following his successful surgery, Suryakumar’s supporters are eager to know when he will be completely fit to serve India in the shortest form of the sport. Following the England tour, India will play a white-ball series (three One-Day Internationals and three T20Is) against Bangladesh in August.

Suryakumar’s return to the sport is uncertain as it isn’t revealed when he will don India colours again. The 34-year-old’s last outing in India colours happened against England at the Wankhede Stadium. In the contest, he could produce only two-run innings from his bat. Talking about his overall numbers in the series against the English side, he struggled to be among the runs. Appearing in five matches, he accumulated only 28 runs at an egregious average of 5.60 and a strike rate of 116.66.
