The 2022 T20 World Cup is now just a month away and the buzz around the same has started to build up. The biennial event will be hosted in Australia this year which also makes up for an interesting tournament. A total of 16 teams will take part in the tournament that will be played in two stages- First Round (qualification round) and Super 12s.
While eight teams have already qualified for the Super 12s, the remaining four teams will be decided after the first round. The top two teams from each of the two groups in the qualification round will progress to the next stage of the tournament while the rest four will be knocked out.
The eight teams who have already qualified for the Super 12s have been divided into groups of two as well- Group 1 and Group 2. While Australia, New Zealand, England, and Afghanistan are placed in Group 1; India, Bangladesh, South Africa, and Pakistan make Group 2.
With the tournament nearing its start, teams have also started announcing their squads for the eighth edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup. Defending champions Australia, England, South and the Netherlands have announced their squads so far. Meanwhile, India are yet to name the players who will be on the flight to Australia.
