After an exciting leg of T20 World Cup 2024 in Dallas, the caravan is set to move to Florida for a couple of matches. The match between Sri Lanka and Nepal set to play on Wednesday, June 12 (IST) was called off due to adverse weather conditions in Florida. While the management did their best, rain had the final say in the game. Apart from Sri Lanka and Nepal, India and Pakistan are also set to play one game in Florida in the coming days.
The weather conditions in Lauderhill, Florida, are unlikely to get better over the course of few days. Instead, a flood warning is in for the area over the next couple of days. Not only this, but AccuWeather also released a warning and said, “Enhanced tropical moisture is expected to pool across South Florida beginning on Tuesday.”
It further said, “This will result in periods of heavy rain. High rainfall rates and slow-moving storms will result in flooding concerns, especially in urban and poor drainage locations.” In case the upcoming games get washed out then the chances of Sri Lanka and Pakistan to qualify for Super 8 will further get slim. Sri Lanka will further clash against Netherlands in their last group game and would be required to win it from huge margin to take their net run-rate above others.
Also if the game between Ireland and US game doesn’t get played, then the latter may qualify at Pakistan’s expense. Also, if the game between Netherlands and Sri Lanka doesn’t happen, it will give a huge advantage to Netherlands or Bangladesh in Group D. Notably, USA will be up against Ireland on June 14, while Canada play India on June 15 with Ireland clashing against Pakistan on June 16.
