Team India, who are cruising towards a victory in the ongoing second Test against England, have suffered a major injury scare. Opening batsman Shubman Gill has reportedly been taken for scans after he sustained a blow on his left forearm while fielding on Day 3 in Chennai. BCCI updated everyone about Gill’s injury on Tuesday and revealed that the youngster is currently being assessed by the medical team. It was also confirmed that the 21-year-old would not take the field on Day 4.
How did Gill get injured?
The injury supposedly happened during the 18th over of England’s second-innings on Monday. When Ashwin was bowling, England’s batsman Dan Lawrence had attempted an attacking shot towards leg side and the ball struck on Shubman Gill's left forearm. Although Gill tried to take an evasive action but he had very less time to get out of the way as he suffered a painful blow.

Although there is still no confirmation about how serious the injury is, India do have a few back-up opening options available in the form of Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul. Shubman Gill, who scored a gritty half-century in the first Test, would however be hoping to get fit on time for the much-anticipated third Test (Pink Ball) in Ahmedabad, starting on February 24th.
