Former West Indies captain Brian Lara has urged Virat Kohli to serve India for a few more years in Test cricket. With the reports of Kohli considering Test retirement, his fans have looked anxious. After Rohit Sharma’s retirement, the reports regarding Kohli have intimidated Team India fans and they are worried about India’s upcoming Test assignment in England for the five-match Test series. Following Rohit, if Kohli also bids adieu to the longest format of the sport, the Board of Control for India (BCCI) will face a tough challenge of filling the boots of the two legendary players who made vital contributions to the side in the longest form of the sport.

Brian Lara, the most successful batter for West Indies in Test cricket, believes Kohli’s presence is essential for the development of the longest form of the sport. Taking to Instagram, he posted his picture with India veteran and wrote, "Test cricket needs Virat!! He is going to be persuaded. He is NOT going to retire from Test cricket. @virat.kohli is going to average above 60 for the remainder of his Test career. #testcricket #thebest”.

India require Virat Kohli’s experience to win Test series in England

Team India require Virat Kohli’s service to give a tough time to England in the upcoming five-match series in England. Although, Kohli’s batting record isn’t impressive in English conditions, he proved himself as captain in England in 2021 and 2022. It was his leadership talent that gave England a headache in 2021-22 and level the series by 2-2. With his presence on the field, he can guide new India captain to chalk out plans against the hosts.

The English side have been in sensational form recently. Under Ben Stokes, they clinched the first Test series win in New Zealand after 17 years. In the three-match competition, England hammered the Kiwis by 2-1. The victory will give confidence to the home side in the upcoming series against India.
