Australia spinner Adam Zampa scalped a five-wicket haul in the T20 World Cup Super 12 game against Bangladesh. Led by Adam Zampa's five-wicket haul and skipper Aaron Finch's 40 off 20, Australia thrashed Bangladesh by 8 wickets on Thursday.

Even though Adam Zampa delivered an exceptional performance, the spinner was unlucky as he was denied opportunity to complete a hat-trick. He dismissed Bangladesh all-rounders Shamim Hossain and Mahedi Hasan on the last two balls in the 11th over. Zampa then induced an edge from tailender Taskin Ahmed on the first ball of the 15th over. However, Aussie wicketkeeper Matthew Wade dropped the catch.

“That was my hat-trick ball,” Zampa shouted at the wicketkeeper Wade.

“I tried to catch,” Wade then responded.

Zampa finished with figures of 5-19, his best in T20I and the best spell in the ongoing World Cup. The Australian bowlers bowled Bangladesh out for 73 in just 15 overs, with Zampa taking the 'Player of the Match' award for his spectacular bowling effort.

“I got the two wickets probably three overs before my next ball so I didn’t think anyone else knew I was on a hat-trick,” Zampa said after the match.

“I wanted it that way because I didn’t want the batsmen to know either in case he slogged one. I said, ‘Wadey, that was my hat-trick’. And he goes, ‘yeah, I know, I tried to catch it for you."

“I’ve never got a hat-trick, still haven’t got one. But I can’t really blame Wadey too much. He’s been taking some beautiful catches.”

Australia will next lock horns with West Indies in Match 38 of the T20 World Cup 2021 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
