India and Australia finally squared off in the first Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2022-23 on Thursday. Australia captain, Pat Cummins won the toss and straight away decided to bat first. However, his decision seemed to backfire as Australia lost both its openers in the first three overs. While Usman Khawaja fell prey to a swinging delivery from Mohammed Siraj, David Warner could not comprehend a seam-up delivery from Mohammed Shami and saw his off-stump going for a toss.

Talking about Khawaja’s dismissal, the southpaw was served up a full in-swinging delivery from Siraj which he could not read well and ended up taking a blow on his pad. India went all up in their appeal but the on-field umpire did not move an inch. Meanwhile, India captain Rohit Sharma opted for a DRS after consulting his teammates.

The third umpire took his time and checked for everything before adjudging the batter out. The ball tracker showed the ball pitching in line and hitting the leg stump, so it was a no-brainer for the TV umpire. While everyone from the batter to the on-field umpire looked pretty satisfied with the decision, the Australian media could not accept that they were handed a blow so early in the game.

Fox Cricket tried to take a dig at the TV umpire as they shared an image of the dismissal and wrote "Ball tracker broken?”

As expected, this tweet did not go well with the Indian fans as they started thrashing the media house left right and centre. Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer also took a dig as he shared a hilarious meme.
