Chennai Super Kings (CSK) got a fierce start from their young opener Ayush Mhatre in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Batting first after losing the toss, the Yellow Army lost Devon Conway and Urvil Patel in quick succession. In the crunch situation, Ravichandran Ashwin was set into the middle to accompany Mhatre. Ashwin held the one end while the 17-year-old took RR’s bowling attack to the cleaners and struck a rapid 43 off just 20. In his knock, he dealt with boundaries (eight fours and a maximum).
He fell against Tushar Deshpande in the sixth over of the match. Riding on Mhatre’s stunning knock, CSK racked up 68 runs in the first powerplay. With his magnificent innings, the young batter again won several hearts. An X user named Jason wrote, “The Best thing happened to CSK this season is only Ayush Mhatre. What an Intent from young Lad! #CSKvRR.”
Yudhvir Singh looks impressive with the ball for RR
Yudhvir Singh, who is playing his fourth game in the tournament, clinched three wickets for RR in the match. He got rid of CSK top-order batters Conway and Patel in the second over of the game and strove to put CSK under pressure. After hunting the scalps of both batters, the pacer dismissed Ravindra Jadeja. He has completed his spell with 3/47 figures.
Dewald Brevis, CSK’s last victory’s hero against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), looked in great touch with his bat in this game. He smashed 42 off just 25. As of writing, CSK are 137/6 in 13.4 overs, with Shivam Dube (unbeaten 17 off 15) and MS Dhoni (0 off 0) at the crease.
