One of the greats of the game of football, Cristinao Ronaldo might have played his final game for Saudi Pro League club, Al Nassr. The legend recently took to social media, fueling speculation of his exit from the club after Al Nassr’s end of season in Saudi Pro League. It is to be noted that the 39-year-old joined the side in 2023 on a lucrative contract, reportedly worth USD 200 million annually.
After the Al Alami played their last match, which saw them go down against Al-Fateh by 2-3 margin, their skipper, Ronaldo’s post hinted at his departure. It is to be noted that despite Ronaldo’s goal in their last match, their hopes in the Asian Champions League have further dented.
CR7 hints at his exit from Al Nassr; says “The chapter is over”
With the end of season for the club, it could potentially be an end of Ronaldo in Saudi. The speculations became rife after the 39-year-old took to X (formerly Twitter) and captioned a post, "This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.” The post ignited widespread rumours of his next move, especially seeing his current contract set to expire on June 30.
A week ago, Spanish publication Marca reported significant internal unrest at Al-Nassr, predicting potential upheaval within the club. Although Cristiano Ronaldo scored 92 goals in 104 matches for his Saudi Pro League team, his recent performance has been underwhelming. The legend has achieved a milestones of 800 club career goals and 936 total career goals.
Recently, Ronaldo also secured his second Saudi Pro League Golden Boot award in two years, making it 99 in 111 appearances. Ronaldo registered 25 goals and three assists (12 big chances created) in 29 appearances in the Saudi League 2024-25 to clinch the Golden Boot for the second consecutive season.
