Former India cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri, known for his electrifying monologues in the commentary box, welcomed Paris Olympics 2024 in his signature style. The biggest sporting tournament featuring the greatest athletes from across the globe will begin on Friday, July 26, in the capital city of France, Paris. When it comes to the quadrennial tournament, everyone, be it a kid or senior citizens, sportspersons, active or retired , are all excited for the same. 

The forthcoming edition will see a total of 117 Indian athletes fighting for India’s glory. The opening ceremony for the grand sporting spectacle will take place on Friday. Sharing the excitement for the event is none other than World Cup winner and former coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri. 

The cricketer-turned-commentator took to X to post a video, where he said, “In less than 36 hours, the greatest show on earth is just about to begin. All eyes will be on Paris and the curtains will go up at Olympics 2024, where you will have hundreds of athletes from all around the globe competing for that exclusive medal.” He added, “It is one medal, the gold medal, that tops the list for all sportspersons, irrespective of which sport they play.” 

The 62-year-old added, “Go and ask a tennis player, go and ask a basketball player. They might be making millions around the globe in various leagues, but when it comes to the Olympic Games, those are the medals they are chasing. Can’t wait to be there! It’s going to light up Paris in less than 36 hours. But let me assure you, the stake will just get bigger and higher. Go for it!”
