In the opening game of The Hundred 2025 between Oval Invincibles and London Spirit, the former side emerged victorious by six wickets. Winning the toss, London Spirit captain Kane Williamson elected to bat first. On the 11th ball of the match, Keaton Jennings fell against Jordan Clark and departed after scoring only five off nine deliveries. After eight deliveries, Oval got rid of the prized wicket of Williamson, who failed to cross the Jason Behrendorff challenge. The New Zealand veteran could chip in with only nine off seven balls. David Warner also became the victim of Clark and walked back to the dugout with his score of nine in 10 balls.

After Rashid Khan and Sam Curran’s introduction in the attack, London kept on losing wickets in regular intervals and got bundled out at a score of 80 after consuming 94 balls. Both Rashid and Curran took three wickets apiece. Jordan Clark got two wickets while Jason Behrendorff and Nathan Sowter also got one wicket respectively. Ashton Turner emerged as the highest run-scorer for Spirit as the Australian played a 21-run knock off just 14 balls. Ryan Higgins, who came to bat at number eight, also amassed 12 runs off 14 balls.

Oval Invincibles chase down 81-run target with ease

Following the low total, Oval Invincibles witnessed the solid opening stand between Will Jacks and Tawanda Muyeye. Both stitched a 34-run stand off just 32 balls. Muyeye fell against Liam Dawson after accumulating 18 off 20. Will Jacks also lost his wicket to Dawon after hitting 24 runs off just 24.

Invincibles lost two more wickets in the form of Jordan Cox and Sam Curran but they chased down the total easily with 31 balls remaining and six wickets in hand. Rashid Khan became the Player of the Match (POTM) for clinching 3/11 figures in 20 balls.
