Former cricketer Ambati Rayudu has urged Virat Kohli to ‘reconsider’ his decision of retiring from Test cricket. Notably, the reports are coming that Virat Kohli has informed BCCI that he wants to retire from the longest format ahead of India’s upcoming tour to England. However, the BCCI officials are also asking Kohli to reconsider his decision as India will need his experience on the England tour.
Reacting to the reports, Ambati also shared a post on his X account where he requested Kohli not not take retirement from Test cricket. “Virat Kohli please don’t retire.. The Indian team needs you more than ever. You have so much more in the tank. Test cricket will not be the same without you walking out to battle it out for Team India.. Please reconsider,” Rayudu wrote.
Virat Kohli’s dipping Test form
Notably, Virat Kohli isn’t having a great outing in the Test format from the last few months. Despite scoring a hundred in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy down under, Kohli could only manage to score 190 runs in five matches at an average of 23.75. He also took a part in the Ranji Trophy for Delhi after the Australian tour but also failed to play a big knock there.
Notably, as per the reports, the BCCI officials are continuously asking Virat Kohli to reconsider his decision of calling off his Test career.“He (Kohli) has made up his mind and has informed the board that he is moving on from Test cricket. The BCCI has urged him to rethink as the crucial England tour is coming up. He is yet to revert on the request,” a source said as quoted in Indian Express.
