Wicket-keeper batter Sanju Samson hasn’t been included in the Indian squad for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Recently, Samson was also dropped from Kerala’s squad for the 2024-25 Vijay Hazare Trophy after he marked his unavailability during the team’s preparatory camp. Notably, the wicket-keeper had to pay the price for his unavailability in the domestic tournament as he couldn’t find a place in Indian squad for the upcoming tournament in Pakistan and the UAE.
Recently, Sanju Samson’s father, Samson Vishwanath has blamed the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) for his son’s exclusion from India’s Champions Trophy squad. “There are people within KCA who have something against my child, we’ve never spoken out against the association before, but this time, it’s become too much. Sanju isn’t the only one who didn’t attend the camp, yet other players in the same situation were allowed to play,” Samson Vishawnath said as quoted in CricTracker.
Some small people turn everything into poison: Samson Vishwanath
Speaking further, Samson Vishwanath also made some allegations on how some people from the KCA ruin the environment over trivial matter, and appealed for his son to get a fair chance to play. “It’s not about Jayesh George (KCA president) or Vinod S Kumar (Board Secretary); it’s some small people in between who turn everything into poison over trivial matters, We are sportsmen, not interested in the business of sports. All I want is for my son to be given a fair chance to play. If there’s any mistake, we’re open to discussion and ready to fix it,” Samson Vishwanath said.
Sanju Samson will be returning back to cricketing action in the upcoming T20I series against England starting on January 22. The wicket-keeper had a great outing in the last two T20I series he played against Bangladesh and South Africa consecutively, and ended up scoring three centuries in the last five T20I matches for India.
