26 May 2025 would be a day to remember in Real Madrid’s history as the Madrid outfit have finally unveiled their new coach at the dawn of the new era. Former midfielder Xabi Alonso is set to take the reins at the Bernabeu after a lot of speculation. He is set to take over at the helm of Madrid as a rather young manager, however his heroics in the recent years with Bayer Leverkusen have really solidified his reputation as a coach.

During his presentation ceremony, Alonso delivered some strong words instilling a sense of hope and confidence amongst the Real Madrid management and fanbase alike. In a video shared by the official Real Madrid handle, Alonso addressed the fans with a short message, saying “Hello Madridistas, I’m here! I’m very happy to start this new chapter with excitement and energy. Hala Madrid!” While speaking at the podium during the presentation ceremony, Alonso laid down his ambitions for the future by saying, “I want to build a great team, we’ve top players. We can achieve great things… I want people to say: this is my Real Madrid, when they watch us.”

Alonso’s speech has been directed towards overturning what has been a slightly down phase for the Madrid fanbase in recent times as the team has struggled to achieve results and has gone trophyless this season. Real Madrid President, Florentino Perez also exuded confidence in Alonso’s ability to lead the club to greater heights. He said, “From the first day you sat on the bench of Real Madrid's U14 in 2018… we knew where you would end up. Right here.”

Xabi Alonso’s arrival sparks a new wave of hope and enthusiasm in the Spanish capital as the Spaniard will look to transform the team under his guidance. With a talented squad already at his disposal, Alonso will also be handed a generous boost with the new reported signings including Trent Alexander Arnold, Dean Huijsen and other names which could follow.
