The Indian team is set to travel to England for the highly-anticipated five-match Test series, starting from June 20. While the Men in Blue will walk out with some new faces, it will be Shubman Gill, who will be leading the side after he was named the skipper following Rohit Sharma’s retirement from Test cricket, earlier this month. Moreover, the side will also be without Virat Kohli, who also retired from the longest format on May 12.

However, their absence will be crucial in a big series, recently Indian pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah was also questioned on his retirement. While several eyes will be on Bumrah, who will have a key role to play with the ball, hinted on his retirement from the longest format.

Jasprit Bumrah drops massive retirement hint ahead of India-England Test series

In an interaction with former Australia captain Michael Clarke on his Beyond 23 podcast, the former Aussie cricketer questioned Bumrah on his future. Responding on the same, Bumrah clarified that players have to be selective as well as smart to utilise their bodies in order to prolong ther career. The 33-year-old also threw light on his fitness.

“This is a sport that I fell in love with. I went to Australia this time, and a lot of youngsters came up to me and tried to copy my (bowling) action. Which is surreal because I used to do that. So yeah, this journey will not always go on, but whenever it ends, I want to give it back to the sport,” Bumrah said. “Because whatever I have and whetever I have learnt in life is through this sport. Thankful to the journey that I have had,” Bumrah further added during the podcast.

"At this moment, I am ok. But I don't set goals such as this is the number I should be at. I look at it one day at a time. The journey is going good so far, but the day I realise that the drive is gone or the effort is not there or my body is not holding up, that is the time when you make the decision," he concluded.

The Indian pacer, who is currently featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with the Mumbai Indians (MI), will be seen donning the national jersey when India takes on England in the upcoming Test series.
