India would be seen playing a three-match T20I series against Ireland in a matter of few days and some new faces could be seen under Jasprit Bumrah's captaincy who will be back to the national side after a period of 11 months. India will be playing three T20Is at same venue (Dublin) on 18th, 20th and 23rd August.

The opening spot for Indian team has huge competition with players like Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, and Yashasvi Jaiswal being in contention as first choice options. Thus, it has become very tough for player of caliber like Ruturaj Gaikwad also to feature in the playing XI regularly. Hence in this T20I series, Gaikwad as vice-captain might get a good opportunity to prove himself and knock the doors of Indian selectors, seeing the marquee events in line ahead.
