Indian team have announced a 17-member squad for the Asia Cup 2023 and notably there were some surprising inclusions like Tilak Varma being fast tracked into the side. Contrary to the reports, Hardik Pandya was named as the vice-captain of the side for this tournament. Sanju Samson will also be travelling with the national side as a reserve player outside the 17-member squad since KL Rahul still has some fitness concerns.

Here in this article, we will have a look at three Indian players who should have been part of squad in Asia Cup 2023.

Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal's exclusion from the Asia Cup 2023 squad has been a huge surprise despite the team going with 17 players. Indian team will be travelling with only one wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav, but Chahal's presence in place of the new batter Tilak Varma could be a valuable addition as the team currently looks at one spin bowling option to play in venues like Pallekele.

Notably, Chahal was last seen playing ODI match against New Zealand in Indore in January 2023.
