Tiger Woods, one of the greatest golfers of all-time, has announced his return to the sport at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas after more than a six-month layoff. The 47-year-old, who hosts the aforementioned PGA tour event, will turn up to take part in it from November 30 to December 3, at the Albany Golf Club.
In April, Tiger Woods had withdrawn himself from the competition during the third round of the Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club due to a problem in his right ankle. Just a couple of weeks later, he had a subtalar fusion surgery on his right ankle to take care of the post-traumatic arthritis caused by the single-car accident in February 2021.
During a chat with the Associated Press recently, Tiger Woods gave the latest update about his fitness and said, “My ankle is fine. Where they fused my ankle, I have absolutely zero issue whatsoever. That pain is completely gone. It's the other areas that have been compensated for.”
Notably, since his single-car accident outside Los Angeles in February 2021, the 15-time major champion in golf has taken part in only five PGA Tour events. Earlier in the year 2023, he finished tied in 45th place at the Genesis Invitational before carding 74-73 at the Masters.
The TGR Live Events, a venture from Tiger Woods, has also announced that Lucas Glover and Justin Rose are going to be a part of the 20-man field for the Hero World Challenge. They will be taking the places of Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele, who are now ruled out of the upcoming event.
