Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who are the defending champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), are aiming to win their fourth title in the 2025 season. With the arrival of Ajinkya Rahane, who is named as the new captain of KKR, the franchise is looking to build on the successful IPL campaign from last season under Shreyas Iyer, wherein the batters scored big runs on a consistent basis, especially on a placid surface at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
In this article, SportsTiger picks the three top batters in the IPL 2025 squad of KKR.
Top 3 batters in KKR IPL 2025 squad:
Rinku Singh
After debuting in the IPL with KKR in 2018, Rinku Singh had to wait for five seasons before he got his big break, scoring 474 runs in 14 matches in the 2023 season, which propelled him into the Indian cricket team. While the left-hander didn’t have the best of times in 15 appearances in the IPL in the 2024 season, due to getting slated in the lower middle order and getting limited opportunities to bat, he is still amongst the best batters in the franchise.
Ajinkya Rahane
Ajinkya Rahane was the model of consistency with the bat in the IPL for most of his career at Rajasthan Royals (RR) till 2019 before his stints at Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) didn’t yield him good results, but in the previous two seasons with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2023 and 2024, he looked his like old self as a batter. The 36-year-old right-handed batter is in the twilight stage of his career, but the KKR management have shown their faith in him by giving him the responsibility of captaincy ahead of the 2025 season.
Venkatesh Iyer
Following his IPL debut in Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) colours in the year 2021, Venkatesh Iyer, the left-handed batter, had an exceptional start, scoring 370 runs in just 10 matches, and since then he has continued to be a regular performer for the franchise. In the IPL 2024 title-winning season, he scored the identical tally of runs like his first season with KKR, this time in 15 matches, but his strike-rate was far superior, which was a key element for the success of the franchise.
