In the recent IPL 2025 match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered a commanding 80-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Batting first, KKR posted a formidable total of 200 for 6, with significant contributions from Venkatesh Iyer, who scored an explosive 60 off 29 balls, and Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who added a solid 50 off 32 deliveries.

In response, SRH struggled against KKR's disciplined bowling attack and were bowled out for 120 in 16.4 overs. Impact substitute Vaibhav Arora was instrumental, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs, including the key dismissals of Travis Head, Ishan Kishan, and Heinrich Klaasen.

This comprehensive performance by KKR handed SRH a massive defeat. While the match was an overall failure for the entire SRH team, one player has been in the spotlight for his poor outings against the Knight Riders and that is Travis Head. The explosive Australian batter has a very poor record against the Kolkata franchise having scored only 79 runs in four innings. Out of these, Head has scored a brilliant 75 against KKR, back in 2017 when he was playing with the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However in his last three meetings with KKR while playing for SRH, Head has only managed to score 4 runs and has been dismissed for a duck on two occasions.

KKR takes a jibe at Travis Head’s poor form against them

Vaibhav Arora seems to be Head’s nightmare as the bowler has dismissed the Australian on two consecutive occasions now for mere scores of 0 and 4. The official social media handles of the Kolkata Knight Riders have also taken a jibe at Head’s records against them.

Travis Head has an impressive IPL record overall with 912 runs so far in 29 matches. His most notable season was in 2024 with the Sunrisers Hyderabad where he scored 567 runs across 15 games with a highest score of 102. His powerful batting and deadly opening combination with Abhishek Sharma was extremely impactful for SRH as they made it to the final of the IPL, but narrowly missed out on the title to KKR.
