Twitter is one of the most used social media platforms at the global level. It’s a place where people share their thoughts about a particular topic ranging from politics to sports and entertainment. Many claim that Twitter is one of the rational platforms as it allows anyone from celebrities to the most common people, to express their views. However, the platform has some functionalities like associating emojis alongside famous personalities’ names.

Mostly, the platform attaches a goat’s emoji alongside top athletes around the globe to indicate that they are among the “Greatest of All Time”. Popular names like Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are among such athletes. Indian cricketer Virat Kohli was also recently included in Twitter’s GOAT club. Current Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma also gets this special treatment from the micro-blogging platform.

However, this goat emoji hashtag for Rohit Sharma changed to something bizarre and shameful on Thursday (6 October). Instead of goat emoji, Twitter showed a pig emoji alongside Sharma’s name. In no time, the hashtag became the top trend in the country with users reacting to this glitch from Twitter. Interestingly, this hashtag was used by verified accounts as well, causing even more stir around it.

While a few urged others not to spread this hashtag, a few just kept using it.
