World Legends 11 outplayed Indian Legends in the inaugural clash of the UAE Friendship Cup and defeated the latter by a 73-run margin. While batting first, batters of World Legends 11 produced blistering knocks to post a massive total in ten overs of their quota. In the 2nd innings, their bowlers  stood tall against Indian Legends' batters and restricted the latter at 66/4 in ten overs of the game.

While World Legends 11 all-rounder Asghar Afghan delivered a match-defining knock with the bat, he suffered an unfortunate injury in the 2nd innings. As he came on to bowl the 9th over the game, he suffered a serious ankle twist as he landed to deliver the ball. The intensity of the ankle twist was so intense that it took him a few minutes to stand and take the run-up to bowl the first ball of 9th over. However, the injury caused by the ankle twist was quite intense, due to which he felt the pain again as he took the run-up for the first ball but could not finish. Eventually, he gave up and informed his skipper Tillakaratne Dilshan about his situation.

The injury forced him to take a hard walk out of the park, and Syed Rasel had to take the ball in hand and complete the over. However, Ashghar's blistering knock in the first innings ensured victory for the World Legends 11 as the batters of Indian Legends could not pose any tough challenge to the World bowlers. For Indian Legends, Jai Prakash Yadav's 22 in 13 balls was the highest score from the side as none of the batters had any answer to World Giants' fiery bowling. Graeme Cremer was the standout bowler for WL 11 as he clinched three crucial wickets and conceded just five runs in his two overs.
