The group stage of the UEFA Champions League 2022-23 is dawn and dusted as 16 teams have been qualified for the knockout stages. On Wednesday, defending champions Real Madrid defeated Celtic 5-1 to clinch the top spot in the Group F while Benfica dominated European giants like PSG and Juventus to claim the first place in Group H.
Real Madrid finished at the top place in the Group F followed by RB Leipzig, who defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 4-0 on the final matchday as Christopher Nkunku opened the scoring. The defending champions dominated Celtic with a four goal difference as five players scored in the match for the Spanish giants.
In the Group E, Chelsea defeated Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 to finish on the top with 13 points while Oliver Giroud scored a brace as AC Milan thrashed RB Salzburg 4-0 to claim the second spot with 10 points.
Group H was considered as the group of death due to the presence of three European giants including Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus and Benfica. While Benfica claimed the first place in the group after defeating Maccabi Haifa 1-6 in the final match, PSG defeated Juventus to take the second place. Benfica and PSG played two draws against each other while they defeated Juventus and Maccabi Haifa in both the legs.
Manchester City maintained their unbeaten record in the Group G by defeating Sevilla 3-1 in the final match. While City claimed the first spot in the group, German giants Borussia Dortmund claimed the second place after playing a 1-1 draw against Copenhagen .
