The UEFA Champions League 2022-23 witnessed action-packed eight fixtures as the teams from Group A, B, C, and D were in action last night. While giants like Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Napoli registered easy victories, top clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico de Madrid faced a disappointing result in their respective games.

In the Group A, Italian club Napoli continued their winning run and dominated Ajax 1-6 at the Amsterdam Arena despite the home team scoring the first goal of the game. Napoli forward Giacomo Raspadori struck two goals while Ajax captain Dusan Tadic received a red card when his side was already 5-goal down.

On the other side,  Trent  Alexander-Arnold (7') and Mohammad Salah (53') each scored a goal to help Liverpool beat Rangers 2-0 at the Anfield. Napoli are the Group A toppers with nine points in three games followed by Liverpool with six points in three games.

In the Group B, Belgian side Club Brugge displayed tremendous performance against Spanish giants Atletico de Madrid and continued their winning streak. The Belgian club defeated Atletico 2-0 at the Jan Breydel Stadium and also managed third consecutive clean sheet. On the other hand, Portuguese club FC Porto beat German club Bayer Leverkusen 2-0 to climb on the second place behind only Club Brugge.

The Group C is considered to be the group of death in the UCL 2022-23 as giants like Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, and Barcelona are drawn against each other. Bayern maintained their top spot with a dominating 5-0 victory over Viktoria Plzen while Inter Milan clinched second spot after defeating Barcelona 1-0 at San Siro.

Group D toppers Sporting CP faced a 4-1 defeat by Marseille at the Stade Velodrome as the Portuguese team were reduced to 10 men after their goalkeeper Antonio Adan was shown a red card in the 23rd minute. Despite the loss, Sporting continued leading the group as Tottenham Hotspur and Eintracht Frankfurt played a goalless draw at the Deutsche Bank Park.

The teams from remaining four groups will face each other on Wednesday night as the  Group E clash between Chelsea and AC Milan  is set to be the headline fixture of the night.
