On Tuesday, February 25, the match between Australia and South Africa, which was said to be a high-octane clash in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 was washed out without a ball being bowled and toss due to persistent rain in Rawalpindi. However, this wasn’t expected earlier seeing the matches progress smoothly across the other two venues in Pakistan, Lahore and Karachi.
This unexpected result in the ongoing Champions Trophy did not rest well among cricketer enthusiast as well as the fans. While a few fans called it as an “unexpected” result, a few others were seen slamming the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for opting Rawalpindi as one of the venues despite the forecast showing chances of rainfall.
Mohammad Kaif lashes out at PCB for improper arrangements in case of rain during AUS vs SA
While fans did hit out at PCB, former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif also could not hold back his words as he was seen slamming the PCB and the management in Rawalpindi for not covering the stadium entirely. “It’s a shame that the Rawalpindi ground isn’t fully covered. Such an important match - SA vs Aus - might go down the drain because no one addressed this issue. Was the ICC money utilised wisely by hosts?” Kaif captioned a post on X.
