Ahead of the third edition of Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, UP Warriorz have named West Indies cricketer Chinelle Henry as Australia wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy’s replacement. The announcement came on Monday, February 3, just days after the veteran Aussie batter had confirmed her decision to miss the upcoming edition of the tournament, which is scheduled to get underway from February 14.

It is to be noted that Healy ruled herself out of the WPL 2025 due to a stress injury in her right foot. Speaking after the conclusion of the Women’s Ashes series in Australia, Healy cited the troubles with injuries from last three months, which saw her miss a few matches in the Women’s T20 World Cup and get ruled out of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL).

UP Warriorz rope in Chinelle Henry for INR 30 Lakh as Alyssa Healy’s replacement

Confirming the signing, WPL in its statement wrote, “UP Warriorz (UPW) picked Chinelle Henry as a replacement for Alyssa Healy for the upcoming edition of the TATA Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025.” It is to be noted that Henry has so far played 62 T20Is and scored 473 runs and picked 22 wickets. She joins the Warriorz for a price sum of INR 30 Lakh.

Earlier, Healy said, "Unfortunately for me, I've got a couple of months feet up. I'm pretty bummed by that, but at the same time elated to have a little bit of downtime and try and get my body right. But I'm looking forward to sticking my feet in an ice bucket.” "It's been a really frustrating probably 18 months for me ... you get yourself right, back playing, and something else goes wrong. (I'm) going to have a look at a couple of things and how I can be better, maybe a bit more disciplined in some areas, and make sure I'm right to go in particular for that ODI World Cup,” Healy added, eyeing a comeback in the ODI World Cup, set to take place in India.
