Bollywood actor Urvashi Rautela slammed Australia cricketer Mitchell Marsh for his gesture towards the ODI World Cup trophy. After Australia’s World Cup 2023 win, a picture of Marsh went viral all over social media, where he could be seen resting his feet on the top of the trophy. The picture sparked outrage across the internet, and Indian fans lashed out at Marsh for being disrespectful towards the trophy.
Rautela is the new addition to the list of cricket lovers who slammed the cricketer for his gesture. The actor took to Instagram and posted a series of pictures to criticise the cricketer for the same. Not only this, but she also compared Marsh's gesture with those of former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev as well as Argentina footballer Lionel Messi.
While Dev could be seen keeping the trophy over his head, Messi hugged the trophy while sleeping after winning World Cups in 1983 and 2022, respectively. The 29-year-old accompanied her posts with the caption, “Bro, show some respect to the #WorldCuptrophy #MitchellMarsh has put his feet on the top of it just to look cool”
Speaking of the World Cup 2023 final, Australia, under the captaincy of Pat Cummins, defeated India on November 19, Sunday. With this, they went on to lift the coveted trophy for a record sixth time. India, despite being the top performers throughout the tournament, were defeated by their Aussie counterparts by six wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
