The Indian contingent had a great day at the US Open Super 300 on July 13, Thursday, as three-star shuttlers sailed to the quarterfinals of the tournament. Winning their respective men’s singles clashes, world no. 12 Lakshya Sen and Sankar Muthusamy are set for an all-Indian quarterfinal. On the other hand, the 2016 Olympic silver medalist and 2020 Olympics bronze medalist, PV Sindhu defeated her Chinese rival to storm into the quarterfinal round. 

Sen, who is coming on the back of his last week's Canada Open victory, took down Czech Republic’s Jan Louda 21-8, 23-21 in straight games. On the other hand, the Junior World Championship silver medalist Sankar Muthusamy took down Israel’s Misha Zilberman 21-18, 21-23, 21-13 to advance to the third round. 

On the other hand, India’s top-seeded player PV Sindhu emerged victorious in a clash against her Taiwanese rival Sung Shuo Yun 21-14, 21-12 to sail into the quarterfinal. The former world number 2 will lock horns with China’s Gao Fing Jie in the next round on July 14, Friday. The Indo-Chinese duo earlier locked horns in the Canada-Open quarterfinal where the Indian shuttler took control of the game. 

Apart from them, Indian shuttler B Sai Praneeth lost his game against Li Shi Feng, whereas India's Ruthvika Shivani lost the game to her Chinese Taipei rival Lin Hsiang Ti. Speaking of Parupalli Kashyap, the 36-year-old shuttler retired midway through his second match.
