On Monday, May 5, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been handed a big jolt as youngster Vansh Bedi was confirmed to miss the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 following an injury. Bedi’s injury has ruled him out indefinitely. It is to be noted that Bedi was last named in CSK’s 12 for the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), but replaced in the last minute by Deepak Hooda.
It is to be noted that Bedi was signed by CSK for INR 55 Lakh after an impressive domestic season with 221 runs in nine matches. However, he was set to feature in the side’s match against RCB but was dropped due to a ligament tear in the left ankle, sustained during practice.
Urvil Patel joins CSK as Vansh Bedi’s replacement for remainder of IPL 2025
After Bedi’s injury, the five-time champions have roped in wicketkeeper-batter Urvil Patel. The 26-year-old initially went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, despite having resgistered for a base price of INR 30 Lakh. He now comes into the franchise on the back of a breakthrough domestic season, including second-fastest century in men’s T20 cricket - off just 28 balls.
The Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter has played 47 T20 games with 1162 runs under his name. He was previously part of the Gujarat Titans squad in the 2023 season. Speaking of the Yellow Army, they have had a torrid season, having won only two games from 11 matches played thus far. However, they were the first team to get officially knocked out of the tournament, they still have three matches to go.
