With less than one and a half month remaining for the 2025 Champions Trophy, India are yet to announce their squad for the mega event in Pakistan and Dubai. However, former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has made assumptions regarding India’s squad and feels that Varun Chakravarthy is likely to get a nod ahead of Ravindra Jadeja for the upcoming tournament. Chopra said that Chakravarthy has been in great form in the last few months and is among the contenders to get on a flight to Dubai.

Varun Chakrvarthy is currently the second highest wicket taker in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy taking 18 scalps in six matches at an impressive average of 12.16. Apart from that, Chakravarthy also made his return in the Indian team in 2024 and was the highest wicket taker in the T20I series vs South Africa with 12 scalps in four matches, including a 5-wicket haul. “Varun Chakaravarthy is picking up wickets one after the other. He has done well in the Vijay Hazare Trophy also. He took a five-wicket haul against Rajasthan and has been continuously doing well. Since he has returned to the Indian T20I team, he has been picking up wickets every single time,” Aakash Chopra was quoted as saying by India Today.

If Chakravarthy gets picked, who will go out - Ravindra Jadeja: Aakash Chopra

Speaking further, Aakash Chopra said that if Varun Chakravarthy makes into the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is likely to be ruled out. The ODI match Jajdea played for India was the final of the 2023 ODI World Cup. He also wasn’t picked in the ODI series in South Africa in 2023 and Sri Lanka in 2024. Apart from that, Jadeja also retired from the T20I format after the 2024 T20 World Cup.

"The rumour market is hot, the Indian cricket atmosphere has become like that as we get a lot of source-based news and a few of them come true, that Varun Chakaravarthy could be picked for the Champions Trophy. If he gets picked, who will go out - Ravindra Jadeja. That's what I have been hearing," Aakash Chopra said,
