On Friday, April 18, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) registered a five-wicket defeat at the hands of Punjab Kings (PBKS) at their own backyard at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in IPL 2025. Coming into this match after winning their fourth straight away match in the ongoing tournament, the Rajat Patidar-led side had a poor outing as they failed across departements, except an unbeaten 50 from Tim David.
Putting to bat first by PBKS, RCB top-order struggled to get runs, before Tim David took the field when the RCB scorecard read 34/5 in 6.1 overs. He added crucial 50* off 26 balls to help the hosts put 95 at the loss of nine wickets in 14 overs. With PBKS taking the crease in pursuit of the 96-run target, on the back of a key knock from Nehal Wadhera, the visitors chase the total with 11 balls to spare.
Seeing the Bengaluru-based franchise return to their usual known form, fans took to social media to troll the franchise. Moreover, Vintage RCB also began to trend on X (formerly called Twitter) after the home side became the only side yet to win a match at their venue in the ongoing edition.
