The Rohit Sharma-led Team India had a good day out in the middle as they beat Bangladesh in their solitary warm-up match on Saturday, June 1 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York at the T20 World Cup 2024. However, the side missed the likes of Virat Kohli, as he was unavailable due to the travel fatigue as he landed just a day prior on Friday, May 31.

But recent reports reveal that Virat Kohli, who was expected to have his first team practice session on Sunday, June 2 after having missed three sessions earlier, went on to miss another one. According to journalist Vimal Kumar, the Indian side was given a rest after their warm-up match victory over Bangladesh, and hence Kohli also eventually missed the session.

With India calling in for a rest day, Sri Lanka and South Africa had their respective training drills at the Cantiague Park on Sunday, June 2. Furthermore, the report added that Kohli is expected to be a part of the training session on Monday.

It is to be noted that the batting stalwart joined the side late after he had requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to spend some time with his family. Moreover, Kohli is coming into the T20 World Cup 2024 after a brilliant season in the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The 35-year-old finished as the highest run-getter in the IPL 2024, amassing 741 runs in 15 innings at an average of 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.69. He is also coming into the T20 World Cup 2024 as the leading run-scorer in the tournament history, having scored 1141 runs in 27 matches since 2012.
