Star India batter Virat Kohli grabbed eyeballs after a recent social media stir which saw him like a photo of Bollywood actress and model Avneet Kaur. The 36-year-old’s verified Instagram handle was spotted among the likes on a fan page which had a picture of Avneet Kaur. This act quickly went viral on social media, sparking discussions as well as getting reactions from fans.
The gesture even got fans tagging Virat Kohli’s wife, Anushka Sharma. Moreover, a group of fans called it a harmless technical glitch, a few others were left specultaing the Indian batter’s intent. Before the entire story could take a different turn, the Indian batter took to his Instagram story to issue a clarification in regard to the same.
There was absolutely no intent behind it: Virat Kohli clarifies
Taking to Instagram story, Kohli wrote, "I'd like to clarify that while clearing my feed, the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding."
It is to be noted that Virat Kohli did not directly mention Avneet Kaur’s name in his statement, it was seemingly directed towards her. The 36-year-old Indian batter is currently featuring in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 as he is continues to play for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). The Delhi cricketer has amassed 433 runs in 10 innings this season, averaging 63.29. He has so far recorded six 50-plus scores, with his highest score 73* coming against Punjab Kings in New Chandigarh.
