Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) mentor Dinesh Karthik has talked about Virat Kohli’s life after latter’s international Test retirement. On May 12, Kohli hung his boots from red-ball cricket after playing for Team India for 14 years. On May 23, Kohli was seen playing a competitive game for the first time after his retirement, with his appearance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game between RCB and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. In the game, he looked aggressive against bowlers and notched up 43 off 25 with seven fours and a six.
After the match, Dinesh Karthik revealed how Virat Kohli is doing both professionally and personally. "It came as a shock to the outside world, so we are just observing what Virat is up to. He is at his happiest now, he is enjoying the sport, he really wants to spend his time with his family. It's a personal decision, we respect it, and as everyone else, oh, this is happening, but the fact is, it's great to see him happy and ready whenever we want him to play. The key is to keep him in good spirits," said Karthik as quoted in NDTV Sports.
Virat Kohli has done fine job as opener for RCB in IPL 2025
Virat Kohli has looked superb with his bat for RCB in the ongoing IPL 2025. The 36-year-old has smashed 548 runs with seven fifties in 12 outings at a strike rate of 145.35. His responsibility will be to continue his exceptional job in the remainder of the competition to help his side lift the coveted trophy for the first time.
RCB's final contest in the league round will be against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on May 27. After the 42-run loss against SRH, Bengaluru might not end the round-robin stage at the top two despite winning their last match against LSG, if Punjab Kings (PBKS) win their remaining two matches.
