Want to buy a house for my family: Chetan Sakariya after maiden IPL deal worth INR 1.2 crore

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has changed a quite a few fortunes over the years. The tournament has given wings to the dreams of numerous cricketers, changing their lives for the good. Over the 13-14 years of the tournament, one has already witnessed several rags-to-riches stories of domestic players who, if not for the IPL, were even finding it difficult to make ends meet. The stories of players like Mohammed Siraj are prime examples of how IPL has provided world-class platforms to talented domestic jewels.

One such player after the recently conducted Players' Auction is Chetan Sakariya. Belonging to a lower middle class family, they were finding it difficult to manage the expenses with his father not being able to earn enough. Kanjibhai, Chetan's father, used to transport goods in a tempo traveller as Sakariya would visit his friend's house to watch cricket matches on television.

However, the left-arm pacer's gradual rise in domestic cricket meant things started to improve for his family. While he made his debut for Saurashtra in the 2017-18 domestic season, it is with his maiden IPL contract with Rajasthan Royals worth INR 1.2 crores that Chetan can now dream. He is now planning to buy a house with the money in order to relocate to Rajkot city with his entire family.

"I want to buy a house for myself. We currently stay in Vartej village. I am planning to buy a house for my family in Rajkot and also because it will be easier for me to be involved in cricket there," Chetan Sakariya told Times Now in an interview. The 23-year old will be hoping to get some matches under his belt in IPL 2021 which is set to commence on April 9.
