While cricket is often referred to as a religion in India, the fan following that Indian cricketers have is parallel to none. There are a few cricketers from other countries too who have a huge fan base in this country but no one perhaps has it better than the South African legend AB de Villiers.
The former South Africa captain dedicated a chapter in his autobiography to "India" the country where he proposed to his wife and where he took T20 batting to a whole new level while playing in the Indian Premier League. While he initially played for the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), he rose to fame while playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Post his heroics while donning the RCB red, even when South Africa toured India, there were loud chants of "ABD..ABD" whenever he took centre stage. Even after retiring from all forms of cricket, De Villiers continues to enjoy popularity in India. He is currently in India and recently met batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar. He was also spotted playing street cricket.
And now in a fresh video doing the rounds on social media, De Villiers can be seen giving an autograph to a fan who had his portrait tattooed on his hand. De Villiers can be heard saying: "I'm giving my best autograph." The video of the same has gone viral.

Meanwhile, while the South African has confirmed that he will be back with the RCB but not as a player. The franchise did share a video of De Villiers landing in Banglaore in which he said that he is in the city to talk to the franchise about IPL 2023. The mini-auction for the next edition of the tournament is expected to happen in December.
