Former South Africa cricketer and one of the greats of the game of cricket AB de Villiers is not a part of the Indian Premier League from the field but is surely a key member from off the field. The South African great, who was last seen playing for his IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, alongside Virat Kohli, called off his career having played his last match against KKR in 2021.

In an interaction with one of the broadcasters of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), AB de Villiers revealed the name of the greatest of all time in the cash-rich league. In a ‘Q20s’ section of Jio Cinema, De Villiers was asked who he considers the G.O.A.T of the IPL. Answering this, the veteran replied, “The G.O.A.T in the Tat IPL 2023 for me is MSD.

It is to be noted that the CSK skipper MS Dhoni is the seventh-highest run scorer in the history of the tournament. He is also the second most successful captain in IPL history, having won four IPL titles, only after Rohit Sharma.

In the same interaction with Jio Cinema, the former cricketer also named a cricketer who he sees to captain India. What was shocking was that it was nether KL Rahul, nor Rishabh Pant or Shreyas Iyer. The former South Africa & RCB star named RR skipper Sanju Samson to lead India in the future.

“Sanju Samson, we all know, is an incredible player, but what’s his captaincy like? I think the first thing that comes to mind for me is his composure. Calm, relaxed kind of guy. He never seems to be fussed by anything, which is a very good sign as a captain. Strategically I think he’s pretty sound. I think he can still improve and will still improve over time as he gets more experience and spends more time with someone like Jos Buttler,” ABD said on Jio Cinema.
