India are currently featuring in the first fixture of the T20I series against West Indies. Ahead of this game, Sanju Samson was added to the India squad, replacing injured KL Rahul. The all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja came back into the XI after missing the ODI series. For the Caribbean team, Alzarri Joseph was handed debut T20I cap, while Shimron Hetmyer and Obed McCoy made a return into the XI in the shortest format.

India had a rusty start with Suryakumar Yadav trying to be over aggressive in his intent. He did play his trademark shot over the deep fine-leg area which fetched him a six, before getting dismissed for 24 off 16. Then arrived Shreyas Iyer at the crease, who didn’t look comfortable from his very first ball.

In his fourth ball of the innings, Iyer tried to hit an ambitious shot over the mid-wicket area, but instead the ball took an edge, which was caught in a brilliant fashion by Akeal Hosein. The 27-year-old batter made his way back to the pavilion for a duck.

India posts a strong total

The skipper Rohit Sharma slammed 64 off 44 balls, laced with seven boundaries and two sixes. However, key players like Rishabh Pant (14) and Hardik Pandya (1) could not provide substantial contributions. Jadeja looked confident in a short stay of 16 off 13 balls, with two boundaries.

In the end, Dinesh Karthik and Ravichandran Ashwin provided hefty contributions in the lower middle order to help Men in Blue post 190 on the board.
