Cricket is a gentleman's game they say. Yet during intense passages of play on the cricket field, it is only human to lose one's cool. And one such incident happened during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Elite Group D Saurashtra vs Baroda match. Two experienced players Sheldon Jackson and Ambati Rayudu got involved in a heated exchange of words. The two cricketers were even seen charging towards each other before umpires intervened and the match resumed.
The incident happened in the ninth over of the match when Jackson, batting for Saurashtra, was seen walking towards Rayudu, who is the captain of Baroda. A comment from Rayudu aimed at Jackson seemed to have irked the batter and he decied to make his displeasure known to the Baroda skipper.
As commentators noted, Rayudu was not happy with the time Jackson was taking to get ready to face the next ball and he even had a word with the umpires regarding the same.
The video of the heated exchange between the two has gone viral:
Talking about the match, Saurashtra won the toss and opted to field. While Baroda did manage to post a challenging score of 175/4 at the Holkar Stadium in Indore riding on Mitesh Patel and V Solanki, Saurashtra chased down the total with 2 balls to spare and brought up a 4-wicket win. Samarth Vyas was the star performer for the winning team as he chipped in with 97 off 52 balls.
Neither Rayudu nor Jackson personally had a great day on the field with the Baroda leader getting out for a golden duck while Jackson managed 17 off 16 balls.
