In the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, when Andre Russell came to bat at number seven, he looked ruthless against bowlers. The West Indies all-rounder attempted only nine balls but hoarded a quick 17 with two fours and a maximum. In the 17th over of the match, Angkrish Raghuvanshi fell against Dushmantha Chameera following which Russell was expected to play some blistering strokes from his bat to help his side cross the 200-run mark. In the next over, Rinku Singh also lost his wicket while attacking Vipraj Nigam.

Russell took KKR to their last over of the innings but in the final over, his task was to take on Australia’s speedster Mitchell Starc. On the first delivery, the left-handed pacer bowled a lower full toss which was attempted by the right-handed batter courageously. The Caribbean player looked magnificent and played a brilliant stroke which went for an elegant six. After clearing the fence, Russell was seen smiling. The superb hit also helped KKR surpass the 200-run score.

DC have lost two quick wickets in the first powerplay

Pursuing a massive target of 205, hosts DC have lost their top-order batters Abishek Porel and Karun Nair. Left-arm spinner Anukul Roy got rid of Porel on the second ball of the innings while Nair got dismissed against pacer Vaibhav Arora in the fifth over. In the seventh over, KL Rahul also got run out by Sunil Narine while attempting to steal a run.

As of writing, DC are 61/3 in 6.4 overs, with veteran Faf du Plessis (29 off 19) and skipper Axar Patel (one off two) at the crease. Both will have to maintain a healthy partnership to help their team pull off the huge total successfully.
