France star striker Kylian Mbappe was at its best on Sunday evening as he single-handedly tested the abilities of Argentina goal-keeper Emiliano Martinez by putting three goals past him during the FIFA World Cup final, on Sunday evening. Despite his brilliance on the field, Mbappe could not guide France to defend its title, as Albiceleste lifted its third title on penalties.

While Martinez could not stop Mbappe’s force on the field, the experienced goalkeeper came heavy on the PSG forward after the summit-clash. Meanwhile, Martinez didn’t forget to troll Mbappe after winning the prestigious title, as he asked the team for a minute of silence in the dressing room.

All the Albiceleste players were singing and dancing in the Lusail Stadium changing rooms after a third World Cup triumph, but Martinez briefly brought it to a halt for a few seconds to troll Mbappe before continuing with the wild scenes. The moment was captured as the goalkeeper was live on Nicolas Otamendi’s Instagram.

Notably, the verbal tussle between both greats of the game was triggered after French forward made an insensitive comparison by stating the football in South America was not as advanced as football in Europe.

“The advantage we have in Europe is that we play among ourselves with high-level matches all the time, such as the Nations League. When we arrive at the World Cup, we are ready, whereas, Brazil and Argentina do not have this level in South America. Football is not as adavanced as in Europe. That’s why at the last World Cups, its always the Europeans who win,” Mbappe was quoted by Sports Bible.

However, the comment didn’t go down well with the Argentinian goal-keeper who schooled the prolific striker by stating that ‘when you don’t have this experience, it may be better not to talk about it.’ “He doesn’t know enough about football. He never played in South America. When you don’t have this experience, it may be better not to talk about it. But it doesn’t matter. We are a great team, recognised as such,” said Martinez ahead of France vs Argentina final clash.
